Dadada

Dear Biscuit & Sparkly Watermelon,
You are talking and screeching more than ever. You even move your mouth to copy us when we are talking.

You are creeping well, getting everywhere on the floor. It isn't yet well coordinated, but it's only a matter of time.

I'm also impressed with your appetite. You tried rice cereal (your first meal) while Magia was visiting. Biscuit fed you your first ever bites.

You are certainly an independent woman, wanting to hold your own spoon every bite.

So far, you've tried cereal, eggs, broccoli, strawberries, peas, pita, biscuit, and quinoa.

These milestones keep coming, too quickly in my opinion. Feel free to stay my baby as long as you want.

All my love,
Mama

Brave

Dear Biscuit & Sparkly Watermelon,
You had your first swim lesson this week. Miss Jessica did a fantastic job of teaching and supporting you.

You even tried something new- jumping into the pool.

I love how brave you are. You are conquering your fears. You are also setting a great example for your little sister.

All my love,
Mama

Serious(ly) Funny

Dear Biscuit & Sparkly Watermelon,
You've both been showing off your humorous and loving sides recently.

Sometimes you are inadvertently funny. Just yesterday, on our way into BJs superstore, you told the greeter, "We're just coming in to poop."

And after chatting up a lady with her tiny poodle at The Great Outdoor Provision Co., you said to her as she was walking away, "Oh, I see he has a small penis under there; must be a boy."

A few weeks ago, during our typical bedtime routine, I finished reading our books, scratching Biscuit's back, and snuggling a little before bed. Just before you fell asleep, I whispered, "You are a super star," thinking only your dreaming self would hear me. Wrong! A quiet whisper back said, "I know."

And tonight, same routine, only for the first time, you faced me (instead of turning your back). You put your little arm around my neck and rubbed my hair for approximately 2 seconds before you fell asleep.

Last night, you asked if we could please wear matching pajamas. I forgot I even had Tinkerbell pajamas- thanks Magia!

We've been loving "When Gorilla Goes Walking," a book of poems. One is titled The Dog House and tells the story of a little girl who is "in the dog house" for making a mess with her finger paints. You liked this euphemism so much, you made a joke about mommy. When I had a fender bender awhile back, I was "in the dog car." Hahaha.

Sparkly has been getting in on the action, also. She has a new smile, with a very crinkly nose. She laughs and uses this smile now to interact with us, along with lots of growling, "ahs," and raspberries.

She also has shown her shy side recently, hiding her face in my shoulder when strangers approach us. She's still smiling, but very coy. It's adorable.

I would almost swear she knows what a kiss is. When I ask for one, she grabs my face and gives me one.

You both have been so loving and so much fun in the last few weeks. This Olympic-inspired moment takes the cake, though...
