Craving a little sugar

Dear Biscuit & Sparkly Watermelon,
Today we met up with some friends for a nature play date. I've been craving a little sugar, and this pregnant mommy couldn't believe the day started with following a Krispy Kreme doughnut truck.

At the play date, you got to splash in kiddie pools, blow bubbles, play dress up, build & decorate a fairy house, and even cover a tree in play dough.

In the afternoon, you were adamant that we "bake a cake for Papa."  I think maybe the sugar cravings are spreading to you. Or perhaps, you just wanted to lick a bowl of chocolate cake batter. In any case, I love how you were thinking of your Papa.

A few nights ago, Papa was working late, and you went to bed before he got home. I checked the monitor and saw you standing at your window, peeking through the blinds.  I knocked on your door to make sure you were okay.  "I just saw an ice cream truck," you said.  Then you laid back down and went to sleep.  I cried a little because, A: you were in bed before your papa came home AND before the ice cream truck makes her rounds, and B: you know what an ice cream truck is.  Your friends, classmates and books are teaching you so many new things that I can't keep up.

This Friday night, though, we thought a little hands on experience was necessary so you would know the full definition of an ice cream truck.  We had to chase her down.  She passed right by us the first time.

As my cravings pass after Sparkly Watermelon is born, we'll bake less and chase the ice cream truck less often.  I will miss the sugar, but you are all the sweetness I need.

All my love,
Mama
